We're having a baby!

Today we had our nineteen week ultrasound at RCH. For many of you this will come as a surprise, but we wanted to make sure the baby was okay before we shared our news.

The baby measured one week ahead of schedule and is in the 95% percentile at this time. The original due date was August 14th, but the technician today thinks it more likely to be August 7th. All the organs are measuring normal for this stage of pregnancy. The baby was very active today, but upside down for some of the measurements, so I had to walk around to get it in the correct position - which seemed to work. Our next step is a tour of the maternity ward at the end of April.

We're in the process of selecting names for our baby. My students have definite opinions on names and are not shy about suggesting their favorites. In fact, they've been so excited, that they've started a facebook group where they update progress regarding my size, choice of clothing, and possible baby names. It is touching to see such a large number of students wishing me well.

I promised to do a better job of updating the blog from now on.

Next blog will be my mom's birthday photos.

PS> Below is the image of our baby's foot. This, along with the knowledge that my husband's head measures 24" in circumference, leaves me with some foreboding. ;-)
