Happy Valentine's Day!

In January Evan and I started a course titled Mother Goose. During each class we sit on mats with other kids and moms and learn songs and stories. I've really enjoyed our time at the Goose, but have had to endure one nasty side effect of our attendance. Basically, the songs I have learned play over and over again in my brain - a type of terrorism one might argue. Last week my brain was invaded by the 'Grand Old Duke of York' and this week's special is a song called 'John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt' (sp?). Overall, I've especially enjoyed the comraderie with other moms.

On the heels of our success with the Goose, I signed up the Evsters for another program titled Jump Start. Again, we sing songs, play, and learn sign language. This too has proven to be a beneficial program for both Evan and me.

The Evsters is growing like a mad man and we'll find out exactly how enormous he is on Tuesday when he sees his doctor for his six-month shots (data to be disclosed in the next post). Aside from that, Evan is a busy wee thing. His favourite things include nursing and playing with us. Issues include the fact that he doesn't like to be on his own and he won't sleep for more than 90 minutes at any given time during the day or night.

Evan's 6 month b-day is tomorrow and his development seems to be right on track. He can turn from his back to his front (but not vice-versa) and he can sit up by himself (mostly). And most importantly, to Scott that is, he can say 'dada'. His first word! 'Mama' breaks the monotony of 'dada' - but not often enough for my liking. He also appears to be very strong, and loves to stand, which may mean he'll skip crawling in favour of walking (I can't imagine containing him then!)

When I have a moment, I've been doing a bit of school work each day for the past several months. I want to feel completely prepared for teaching next year. As of yet, I can't say where I'll be teaching or what I'll be tasked to teach, but no matter what, I'm going to be as prepared as I can be. One side benefit is that my brain, which was quickly emulsifying, is starting to function at a more optimal and appropriate level.

Scott's been a busy wee bee as usual. He's hired a few more people and is looking for more office space downtown. He has one possible location that he is looking at and if that doesn't pan out, then I'm hoping that he will move the business to Burnaby (much closer to home).

Building a business is difficult, if it weren't, then more people would do it. That stated, Scott has had to make some difficult decisions and is very careful about the direction he wants to steer his ship. At times of stress, I share with him a mantra that my Auntie Judie shared with me at a difficult time ("This too shall pass") and I hope that it helps him as much as it did me.
