Katie Cat takes to the stage...

Well, the much anticipated day arrived and Katie Cat was set to perform in her first ever dance recital at Capilano College Theatre. For those of you who don't know, Kate attends a ballet class once a week and is learning all sorts of skills including: trying to listen to her teacher, jumping, pointing her toes, walking on her tip toes, listening to music, working with her contemporaries and so forth. Unfortunately, one skill that Kate hasn't mastered yet is a sense of self-control. Jeanette tells me that at class Kate loves to dance to music and perform free-style dances that she choreographs herself. So, with a fear that Kate would venture off the plan of the program, Saturday began.

Once I arrived at the theatre I was pleased to see that our Kate was the focus image of the entire program! During the performance, my excitement and fear built up as my mind wandered wondering what our little Cat was going to do during her dance. Just before she was set to 'take the stage', another group of young ones (kids that are probably 4 years old) were dancing, when all of a sudden our Katie Cat skipped out from the wings and twirled her way around the entire stage. The audience members were literally howling with laughter at the sight of itty bitty Kate in her red tutu, hair dressed in pig tales with ribbons, and tiny feet donning miniature ballet slippers, literally 'taking' the stage. She lept over props, danced and twirled around the girls, and when the music stopped she posed as if to show that her performance had, in fact, come to a close. Honestly, I haven't laughed that hard in years, maybe even longer.
