Signed, sealed & subpoenaed!

Last December (see December '07 blog entry), Scott and I were driving home from my sister's house and we spotted a drunk driver ahead of us. We phoned 911 and the dispatcher thanked us and stated that someone would find her. We really didn't believe this and so we followed her up Westwood Plateau (by our house). The drunk driver ended up driving her car into a snow pile, proceeded to get out of the car, pull down her pants and relieve herself on the street whilst being directly in the spotlight of my headlights! The police arrived and proceeded to take her directly to the hospital to get her blood drawn as evidence. Scott was later contacted by the police and gave his official statement. Fastforward one year...

A few days ago, Scott was served with papers! He has to appear in court in the new year and is a witness for the Crown. Apparently, this drunk driver is FIGHTING the charges! It's so completely unbelievable given the depth of her intoxication, but with our broken system, she will likely get off 'Scott-free'. Details to follow in the New Year!

Santa came to town...

Today Evan visited Santa Claus for the first time! The Evsters was very well behaved and took his photo with Santa very seriously. I was hopeful that he would smile, but based on his previous photo shoot, I am very pleased with his behaviour. Next year we will have to convince Santa to look at the camera!

Tomorrow he goes for a photo shoot with his cousins, Kate and Cameron. Cameron and Evan will be sporting the exact same outfit, which includes a tie that matches Kate's dress! I know; I know; It's a wee bit crazy, but it will look awfully cute.

October Happenings

Unfortunately, we are STILL awaiting the pics from Evan's photographer. This is especially frustrating given the fact that we are planning on using one of the professional pics for our photo thank you cards. We are growing tired of waiting to officially thank everyone for the kindness and generosity shown towards our little guy. We have been told that we will be receiving the DVD of Evan's pics next week, so please stay tuned :-)

On Friday, October 10th, we attended my convocation up at Simon Fraser University. I finally completed my Master of Education degree and it feels really satisfying to have completed the formal phase of my education. No more school for me! I'm DONE! Now that I'm on maternity leave, I'm beginning to feel as though my brain is atrophying, so I should probably pull out my history books and begin a re-read! Speaking of history, I'm anxious to see Passchendale in the theatre.

Evan is a joy and is growing so quickly. I swear that next month he'll be off to university at the rate he is growing. He loves to smile and has one dimple on his cheek. At his most recent doctor's appointment, we learned that his head circumferance, weight, and length measurements all indicate that he is well above average (75-90th percentile). He also had his first four shots and surprised us with his monchalant attitude about the matter! Hopefully he will take his next set of shots with such ease. One other Evan notable is that we took him to the pumkin patch. He cried only when video was being taken of him, which seems to be the pattern of his behaviour. As you can see from the pics, he is wearing his caterpillar costume that his Za Za (my mom) bought for him. At one point, I was taking a pic of Evan and Scott when a horse came over and sniffed Evan! This happened so quickly, that I didn't have much time to centre the pic, hense a partially headless Scott and horse! Aside from that, I really love the pic.

Scott's business is booming! He now has four contractors working for him along with his full-time employee. He has a full board of directors and has completed his seed-round offer sheet and is currently searching for investors. While this is the worst time to seek financing, he's lucky in that the business is growing and is saddled with no debt. Keeping him busy is an exciting project on the Saanich peninsula, a challenging engineering job with the Canada Line (rapid transit), as well as other projects around Metro Vancouver.
